Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height overall blazoned as follows:  Per chevron abased Azure and Gules, issuant from point a stylized mountain range Argent, in base a pile Or (Buff), overall two swords in saltire of the second, points downward, superimposed upon the blades, an unfurled scroll of the third, surmounted by a quill pen slightly tipped to sinister Sable.  Attached below the device, a Black scroll inscribed POTESTAS PER OPUS PROBUM in Silver.

Symbolism
Red, white and blue are the national colors.  Buff is the color traditionally associated with Support units; combined with the chevron and pile, further emphasize support coordination.  The stylized mountain range and swords allude to the units teamwork and its alignment with the 10th Mountain Division.  The quill and unfurled scroll, adapted from the Army Contracting Command insignia, highlights the Battalions affiliation, also signifying the units contracting responsibilities to meet the Armys requirements.  The motto translates to Power Through Good Business and personifies the organizations willingness to respond to the military contracting needs through sound business strategy.
